In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go in for live hearings and doom a Zoom hearing in the hallway. My calf is really hurting bad. Go home and take a nap. At night watch “The Machinist” (2004).

Chinese New Year

In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go in for a sentencing hearing. Client has Covid. Hearing is rescheduled. Walk down to the lakefront. My knee hurts even more today. Will the pain ever go away? In the afternoon go in for my accupuncture treatment. The needles go into my legs. Lay on the table for an hour. I am told that today is the Chinese New Year. This is a good omen. My knee pain is gone.

Knee is giving me a bad time

In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go in for a hearing. Walk over to the jail for a consultation. In the afternoon walk up the Oak Leaf trail out to UW-Milwaukee. My knee is giving me a bad time. At night watch “Shaft” (1971).

AFC championship game

Walk down to the lakefront. Walk over to the Oak Leaf trail. Walk out to Prospect Avenue. Walk down to the river. Follow the riverwalk all the way back home. Listen to the Cincinnati Bengals upset the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime in the AFC Championship game. At night watch “The Last Duel” (2021).

Foot bridge

Walk around downtown. Put out peanuts for the squirrels. Put out seed for the birds. They are waiting for me up in the trees. Walk down to the lakefront. Cross the Oak Leaf foot bridge over Lincoln Memorial Drive. Walk out on the Oak Leaf trail out to North Avenue. My knee is sore today but not as bad as it has been the past week.

Across the law books

In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go in for a hearing. In the afternoon work at the office. Do a court hearing over Zoom. Watch the reflection of sunlight go across the law books in my office.

Look out a window

In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go see my client who is waiting in the bullpen in the back. She is crying. I ask why. She says it is because this is the first time she has been able to look out a window since she was arrested. (There are no windows to look outside in the jail). I almost start crying myself. We go to court and make our appearance in front of the judge. Drive back to my office. Do a sentencing hearing over Zoom. At night go to Orangetheory. Run a mile on the treadmill despite my ongoing knee pain.

The Terminator

Super cold again today. In the morning drive to the office. Do a preliminary hearing over Zoom. Drive to the jail. Go in for consultations. Drive home. Eat lunch. Drive back to the jail. Go in for more consultations. Drive home. Get under a blanket and watch “The Terminator” (1984).
