In the morning walk to the office. Work on a few files. Drive to 27th And Rawson Avenue. Walk west to 76th Street. Stop at Chick-fil-a. Don’t like it. Walk to Grange Avenue. Walk south. Listen to the Zoom feed of the Public Defenders Conference. Walk past the Bodamer Log Cabin in Greenfield, built in 1832. Walk back to my car. Get pizza from Topper’s.

As airplanes fly overhead

In the morning walk to the office. Work for a little while. Walk to Pick N’ Save. Buy cold medicine. In the afternoon drive to College Avenue. Walk south to Rawson Avenue. Walk west to 27th Street. Walk east on College Avenue. See the sun and the moon sharing the sky as airplanes fly overhead.

South to Wilson Park

In the morning walk to the office. Still have a cold. Work all morning. In the afternoon walk west to 27th Street. It is warm and sunny. Walk south to Wilson Park. Walk to the Comales and eat five tacos. Walk back home.

The trick or treaters

Still sick with a cold today. In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go in for a hearing. Drive home. Try to rest. In the afternoon drive back to the courthouse. Go in for a sentencing hearing. Drive out to Heather’s house. Sit in their driveway to hand out candy to the trick or treaters. Drive home.

Battle it all day

In the morning drive to 108th and Greenfield. Walk south to Oklahoma Avenue. Walk west to Calhoun Road. Walk north back to Greenfield Avenue. Walk back to my car. Drive home. I caught a cold. Battle it all day.

Fall colors are blazing

It is a nice warm and sunny day. The fall colors are blazing. In the morning ride my bike up the Oak Leaf trail to Capitol Drive. Walk from there up the trail some more and back. Ride my bike south to Lincoln Avenue. Walk from there to the Forest Home Cemetery. Walk back to my bike. Ride back home.

In the morning drive out to the House of Correction. Go in for a consultation. Drive back downtown to the jail. Go in for another consultation. In the afternoon drive to Lorena’s house. Play with Xena in the backyard. Today she is a real estate agent and is showing me a property she has for sale. We take a best friends selfie together. Drive home. Walk down to the lakefront at sunset.

In the morning walk to the office. Work on several files. In the afternoon drive to Lorena’s house. Play with Xena in the backyard. She still has the toy cell phone. She takes my picture with it. Drive home. Walk up Prospect Avenue to North Avenue. Stop at Ian’s for pizza. Walk home.

In the morning walk to the office. Work for a while. Get tired. Go home and lay on the couch and watch “Barry Lyndon” (1975). In the afternoon drive to Lorena’s house. Xena has a toy cell phone that she is very fond of. She pretends to take calls on it and sends texts too!

I defend an empty chair

In the morning drive to the courthouse. Cross examine witnesses. During a break in the trial, the client leaves the courthouse and cuts off his ankle monitor. The trial continues without him. I defend an empty chair the rest of the day. At night I crash on the couch as it rains outside.
