Tennis Ball Walker

Go to the office in the morning. Work all morning. Walk to Ian’s for a slice of pizza for lunch. Walk to the jail for a consultation. Walk back to the office. Walk past the Peck Pavillion. Old people are gathered there to watch a play. See one lady with a walker sitting behind her seat that has two tennis balls cut open and fitted around the front legs. Work all afternoon at the office. Stop at home to have dinner and feed the fish. Walk along the lakefront to Northpoint. Walk west on North Avenue. Walk along the river back downtown. Walk past the Skyline Music Concert in Kadish park. In a good mood pretty much all day. At night watch “Bullitt” (1968).

The MECCA

Wake up sore from yesterdays massive effort. Go to the courts all day. Handle eight cases. Go before seven different judges. For lunch walk down to the Fiserv Forum and try out The MECCA Sports Bar and Grill. Go home and lay on the couch. Watch “Time Trap” (2017).

Day of success

182.5 pounds. This is the lowest weight reported to me by a scale since at least my first year in law school. This is a major milestone for me. In the morning walk along the lakefront to Whitefish Bay. Walk south through Riverwest on Humboldt Avenue. The trees hang over the sidewalk like huge canopies and keep me shaded the whole way to North Avenue. In the afternoon walk to Layton Boulevard. Along the way stop at a little festival called Frida Fest. See very many pretty latinas there. Walk home as the sun sets. Get back after dark. Walk over 75,000 steps. I succeed where I had failed only three days before.

Fargo

Go to Sam’s Club in the morning to buy soda and water. Go to Aquatics Unlimited to get some rocks. Do a water change on the fish tank. Place the rocks around the plants. Attempting to keep the fish from digging up the plants. Walk to the office. Work all afternoon. The weather is nice and its a perfectly fine Saturday night. I decide not to go for a walk in favor of giving my body another day of rest. I do not like taking a rest day. It is the first day in six weeks that I did not at least go over 20,000 steps on Fitbit or do Orange Theory. Watch “Fargo” (1996).

The Turin Horse

Walk to the office. Walk to the jail. Go inside for consultations. Go to Orange Theory. Decide to take a night off from walking. Stay in and watch “The Turin Horse” (2011).

Fall short of my goal

In the morning walk along the lakefront out to Capitol Drive. Walk west to Teutonia Avenue. Walk south past the Union Cemetery. I am amazed by the good condition of many of the older gravestones. Very sore and exhausted after this 5 hour walk. In the afternoon walk south to Holt Street. Walk east to South Shore Park. Head back downtown. Very sore and exhausted after this 4 hour walk. Unable to go for a night walk. Fall short of my goal to reach 75,000 steps. Only get 57,000.

People love the fireworks

184.0 pounds. Go to the office. Work all day. Get alot done. For lunch walk to the U.S. Bank Tower and eat a salad. Go to Orange Theory. At night walk along the lakefront to UW-Milwaukee. The lakefront is crowded. People love the fireworks. Walk back downtown along Prospect Avenue. Stop at Juneau Park to watch the fireworks. Get home late at night.

Hot in Chicago

Walk to the office in the morning. Get an email out. Walk to the train station. Go to Chicago. Walk around the city while listening to the end of “The Path to Power”, the first Robert Caro book on Lyndon Johnson. Very hot in Chicago. On the train ride back start listening to the second book, “Means of Ascent”.

Hot in Milwaukee

Walk to court in the morning. So very hot. Walk back home. Walk to the office. Go to Orange Theory. Tough 3G partner workout with pop jacks and all outs on the treadmill. The elevator is down so I have to walk the stairs to get home. At night walk up to Miller Park. Cross over to Three Bridges Park. Go south to National Avenue. Have a cheeseburger and a caramel sundae at McDonalds. Walk home in the darkness while listening to the Brewers beat the Cincinnati Reds.

Swirling sky

In the morning walk along the lakefront to Northpoint. Clean out the filter on the fish tank. In the afternoon walk out to Miller Park. It starts to rain. Walk over to Three Bridges Park. Look back and see a swirling sky above Miller Park. Walk to National Avenue. Go back downtown. Listen to the Brewers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates again.
