Wake up still sick and dizzy. Drive to Kenosha for a consultation at the detention center. Drive back to Milwaukee. Swerving on the road. Still sick. Go to the Milwaukee jail for a consultation. Go to court in the afternoon. Go home. Go to bed for a brief nap. Watch “The Golden Child” (1986). The sickness is fading. The depression is too!

Slap Shot

Rainy and dark all day. Go to court for jury trial. Case settles. Start feeling sick and dizzy at the end of the court hearing. The cold that was chasing me over the weekend finally caught me. Go home and sleep. Watch “Slap Shot” (1977). Still depressed.

Serbian Festival

Wake up early. 179.4 pounds. I am under 180 on the scale. I have not seen this low a weight for me since 1993 or 1994. Go to Pick N’ Save for grocery shopping. In the morning walk along the lakefront to Northpoint. Walk over to Farwell Avenue. Walk south to Brady Street. Walk west to Cass Street. Walk back downtown. In the afternoon walk south to Forest Home Avenue. Walk all the way to 51st and Oklahoma. Stop at the St. Sava Serbian Festival. Go into the church and admire the icons. Walk north to the Hank Aaron Trail. Walk east past Miller Park. Hear the crowd cheering as the Brewers come back falls short. At night, walk down to the entrance of Mexican Fiesta. See many, many families enjoying themselves. Walk along the lakefront to Northpoint. A powerful feeling of sadness overcomes me along the way. Listen to Hare Krishna chants until the feeling passes. Walk over 60,000 steps today.

Getting ready

Sleep in late. Go to the office for more trial preparation work. In the afternoon walk up to the Marquette campus. They are getting ready for the new school year. The landscaping is being tended to. The sprinklers are on. There are new students walking around with their parents. Walk over to Highland Avenue. Walk back downtown. Become tired. Lay around on the couch until I fall asleep. Depressing night.

Her graceful yet commanding presence

Wake up still feeling low. Go to court for a couple of hearings. Go to the office for trial preparation. Go home for a quick lunch. Walk to the Safety Building for an afternoon sentencing hearing. There is a woman working security at the courthouse that I see regularly. I have been checking her out for a long time time now. She is gorgeous. I saw her a bunch of times today going in and out of the entrance she was assigned to. She carries herself with a graceful yet commanding presence. I ended up at the courthouse all afternoon. Walk home. At sunset walk to Miller Park. See the Brewers fans going in for tonight’s ballgame. Walk back home at night. My sad mood improves significantly as I walk home.

The more I work the better I feel

Wake up late. Go to the office. Work all morning. Walk to the jail. Go in for a consultation. Go to the courthouse for a couple of hearings. Return phone calls. Walk back to the office. Work on a response brief. The more I work today the better I feel. Get home tired. Go for a walk. Walk up St. Paul Avenue to 13th Street. Walk up Clyborn Avenue to 16th Street. Listen to the start of the Packers-Raiders preseason game. Walk south to Kilbourn Avenue. Walk down to the Fiserv Forum. Walk back home. Feel much better tonight.

Depressed and a BLT at Schreiner’s

Wake up in a bad mood. It carries over throughout the whole day. Drive to Fox Point for cryotherapy. Drive to Fond du Lac. Stop at Schreiner’s Restaurant for lunch. See alot of old people. Have a BLT. Feel depressed. Go to the Taycheedah Correctional Institution to meet a client. It does not go well. Awful really. Drive home. Depressed. Appear for a court case over the phone while I am driving. In the afternoon walk along the lakefront to UW-Milwaukee. Walk back downtown. Stop at Denim Park to see the outdoor concert. Walk by the Fiserv Forum. See some court reporters at a table having beers. Say hello to them. Walk over to Pere Marquette Park to see another outdoor concert. Walk home. Depressed all day.

Skyline music

Go to court for status hearings. Get stuck listening to the sentencing on another defendant. Child abuse case. Go home. Take a quick nap. Go to the office. Work all afternoon. Walk to the post office to drop off letters. Walk along the lakefront to Northpoint. Stop at the custard stand for a cheeseburger and strawberry shake. Walk up North Avenue. Walk past the outdoor Skyline Music Series concert on the hill. Walk back downtown.

Walking south

In the morning drive to Fox Point to do Cryotherapy. Walk to the office. Frustrating day of work. In the afternoon walk to Bay View. Continue walking south to St. Francis. Walk back north along 6th Street. Listen to music from days one and two of Woodstock.
