Y-Not II

In the morning walk to the lakefront. Throw out bread to the ducks swimming out on the lake. Walk north to Capitol Drive. Stop at Culver’s for a cheeseburger. Walk back home. Along the way stop at the 50th anniversary block party for the Y-Not II bar. Later walk back there around sunset to check it out again. Fall asleep listening to Notre Dame beat Florida State in overtime 41-38.

Motorcycle rally

In the morning clean the filter on the fish tank. In the afternoon walk south to Bay View. Walk west to Lincoln Avenue. Walk north up 6th Street. Stop at the Harley Museum to see the motorcycle rally. Walk home.

Quintet

In the morning walk to the office. Do a court hearing over Zoom. In the afternoon walk to Gordon Park. Sit on a bench and do phone consultations with clients away up north in prison. Walk to UW-Milwaukee. Walk home while it rains on and off. At night watch “Quintet” (1979).

The beach is quiet

In the morning walk to the office. Have phone consultations with clients away up north in prison. In the afternoon walk to the jail. Go in for another consultation. Later walk north to UW-Milwaukee. Walk down to the lakefront. The beach is quiet. There are only a few people out playing volleyball. Walk down to Summerfest. It is opening day for the festival. It was moved to later in the year due to Covid. This is the smallest crowd I have ever seen for opening day at Summerfest.

Shooting dice

In the morning walk to the office. Work all morning. In the afternoon walk north to Locust Street. Walk past Riverside High School. See a bunch of kids shooting dice by a dumpster in an alley next to the school. They are then chased by two school employees. The kids scatter. Walk to UW-Milwaukee. Sit in the bleachers at Englemann Stadium. Watch the freshman in yellow shirts lining up for the school photo. Walk back downtown along Prospect Avenue. Stop to talk to an older couple that used to live in my building. Walk home. At night watch “Godzilla” (2014).

Vampire

In the morning walk to the office. Work on several files. Drive to Lorena’s house. Today Xena is afraid that I have turned into a Vampire. I chase her around in a circle. She runs and runs and runs. In the afternoon walk back to the office. Work on one file. Walk to Locust Street. Walk to the lakefront. Walk home.

Back to school

In the morning walk to the office. Work for a little while. Drive to Lorena’s house. Give Xena the Frozen backback that I got for her to use for school. She is very happy. In the afternoon walk up to Locust Street. Walk by Riverside School just as classes are letting out. The school buses are lined up along the street. The kids swarm all around the sidewalk. I am swept up in their tide. Continue walking north to UW-Milwaukee. Walk to the student union. See college students in the Panther shop getting shirts and jackets with their parents. Everything today was all about going back to school.

Brewers are on the road today

In the morning walk to the lakefront. See a kids soccer league playing on several fields. Walk to the lake. Find some ducks. Throw bread out to them. In the afternoon walk south to Bay View. Stop under a bridge to wait out a spot rain shower. Walk west to American Family Field. The place is empty. The Brewers are on the road today. Walk north to Wisconsin Avenue. Walk back home.

WMSE Backyard BBQ

In the morning drive to the grocery store. Buy food. Drive home. In the afternoon walk south to Bay View. Go to Humboldt Park. Stop to see a blues band perform at the WMSE Backyard BBQ. It turns from clear blue skies to heavy rains within a few minutes. Run to a taco restaurant to get out of the rain. After the rain stops walk to 13th Street. Walk north back home.

Mexican Fiesta

In the morning walk to the office. Do a bunch of court hearings over Zoom. In the afternoon walk up Prospect Avenue then up Downer Avenue. Walk east to the lakefront. Walk south on the lakefront to the Summerfest Grounds. Stop to see all the happy people going into Mexican Fiesta.
