Nothing more they can do

In the morning drive out to Heather’s house. Borrow her cell phone and a wifi hot spot. Drive to the house where my phone is. Call police. They go to to the house. Everyone inside denies everything. The police tell me there is nothing more they can do. A short while after the phone starts moving again. Drive back to Heather’s house. Eat turkey for Thanksgiving. Lay on their couch and watch football.

My phone is stolen!

In the morning walk to the office. Work for a short while. In the afternoon walk up the Oak Leaf trail out to Locust Street. Walk back down to Brady Street. Walk towards Water Street. As I walk up Milwaukee Street a kid runs from behind me and snatches my iPhone out of my hands. He jumps into a waiting car. My phone is stolen! I track the phone as it goes all over the north side. The phone is locked. They stop at Wal Mart to try to get money for it by using a recycling kiosk. It is rejected by the system. The phone is useless to the thief. It is a glorified paper weight.

Too cold here in the office

In the morning walk to the office. Do a whole bunch of court hearings over Zoom. There is a water main break downtown. There is no steam heating in the building. It is too cold here in the office. In the afternoon drive to the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility. Go in for a consultation. Drive home. Walk north to Locust Street. Walk to Downer Avenue. Walk back home.

End up winning

In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go in for a court hearing. In the afternoon drive back to the Safety Building for a motion hearing. I am litigating a supression motion filed by another attorney two years ago. I assume its no good and a waste of time. End up winning the motion. At night go to Orangetheory. Watch “Saturday Night Fever” (1977).

Last second field goal

In the morning walk to the office. Pack up my files for next week. Walk north up the Oak Leaf trail out to Silver Spring Drive. Listen to the Packers lose to the Vikings on a last second field goal. It was a calm and sunny day. Walk south on Lake Drive back to North Avenue. The wind begins to howl and the temperature drops as I walk back home.

Geese gathering

In the morning walk to the office. Work on a few files. In the afternoon walk along the lakefront out to Capitol Drive. There are several flocks of geese gathering along Lincoln Memorial Drive. Listen to Harvard come from behind to beat Yale in “The Game”. Walk home with very sore feet. At night watch “The Gauntlet” (1977).

The level of decoration

In the morning drive to the Safety Building. Go in for a live hearing. Later sit on a bench in the courthouse doing more hearings over Zoom. In the afternoon walk to the office. Do another hearing over Zoom. Work on some files. At night walk around downtown looking at the Christmas lights. The level of decoration is rather limited this year.

In the morning drive to the Safety Building. Go in for more jury trial. In the late afternoon drive back to the office for a hearing over Zoom. At night go to Orangetheory. My heart rate shoots way up into the red zone.
