Another sleet filled grey cold winter’s day. Go to the grocery store in the morning. Spend the rest of the day cleaning and doing laundry while it stays miserable outside. Do a water change on the fish tank while watching “Gotham”. Feed the fish my homemade veggie squares for dinner. Watch “Star Trek: Discovery.”
Bradley Center is being demolished
Walk to the office in the morning. Review police reports, cell phone records, videos and other evidence in a case. Walk to the jail for a consultation. Walk past the Bradley Center. Review the ongoing demolition project. Walk back home. Think about going for another walk at sunset but change my mind.
Tired, achy and dizzy
Wake up still tired, achy and dizzy from my cold. Go to the jail for a consultation. Walk across the street to go to MSDF for another consultation. Even my camera is sickly. Only takes blurry pictures this morning. Go back home for lunch. Make phone calls. New client wants to hire me. Go to the Safety Building in the afternoon for a motion hearing. Go home. Take cold medicine. Go to bed early.
Sit around all morning with a cold
Wet, rainy grey and sloppy outside. I have a cold. I am irritated with being sick in the middle of this sucky winter. Go to the courthouse in the morning. Sit around until noon in misdemeanor court waiting for my case to get called. In the afternoon do a telephone consultation with a client in prison.
Emperor’s Kitchen
Go to the courthouse in the morning for a status hearing. Go to the jail for consultations. Drive west to Brookfield. Go to Emperor’s Kitchen for lunch. Eat two plates full of chinese food from the buffet. Walk over to Kopp’s and get an ice cream cone. Drive east to Mayfair Road. Go to Pick N’ Save to grocery shop. Drive to Watertown Plank Road. Go to the Children’s Courthouse. Attend a permanency plan hearing. Drive back downtown. Walk to the office. Work until it is dark outside. Walk home.
Bring a bag lunch to work
Walk to the office in the morning. Bring a bag lunch with me. Work all day at the office. Work on case files, return phone calls and e-mails, read transcripts, read police reports, submit bills. Walk home at sunset. Go to Orange Theory.
George Washington
Snowstorm hits again. Another day is lost. I curse winter. Lay around all day while watching George Washington miniseries from 1984.
Do laundry and watch Supergirl
Spend the day doing laundry and playing Civilization 6. Go for a short walk after dinner. Walk west up St. Paul Avenue to 5th Street. Walk up 5th Street to Michigan Avenue. Walk back east on Michigan Avenue. Watch “Supergirl”.
Brutal cold ruins the day
Go the Criminal Justice Facility in the morning for a court hearing. Walk over to the Safety Building for more hearings. Walk to the U.S. Bank Tower for lunch. Brutal cold is back in it ruins the day for me. Walk back to the office. Get very little work done. Go home frustrated. Go to Orange Theory.
Valentines Day
Go to the Safety Building in the morning for an emotional sentencing hearing. Go get lunch at the courthouse cafe. Get rice and chicken. Go to the jail for a consultation. Go back to the Safety Building in the afternoon for a status hearing. Go to the Criminal Justice Facility for a preliminary hearing. Drive to 68th Street to get chocolates and gummies and flowers. Drive to Latia’s house to surprise her. She is not home. Leave the flowers and treats at her front door and message her. Go home. Latia messages me back and is very happy. She says it made her day. She sends me heart emoji’s.
