Ornament by Ayla

In the morning drive to the courthouse. Do a pre-trial hearing. Drive home. Lay on the couch and watch cartoons. Also watch a Youtube video concerning The Reconquista. Doze off sometime before the reign of Ferdinand and Isabella. Wake up and leave for the courthouse. Put the ornament made by Ayla that I found last Saturday in West Allis up on the courthouse Christmas tree. Do a couple of hearings. Drive home. It is dark outside already. It is also really fucking cold too.

Stuck in a dank corner

In the morning walk to the office. Work for a while. Walk home. Drive to the jail. Go in for consultations. The courthouse cafe is closed down. That is crazy. Now there are vending machines stuck in a dank corner as a substitute. The decline of civilization. Go to the Safety Building for a sentencing hearing. Drive home.

Have a sense for these things

In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go in to preliminary hearing court. Meet the client and do the hearing and get out quick. Drive to the House of Correction. Go in for two quality consultations. Drive home. Walk to the office. Work for a while. Walk home. Walk down to the lakefront. Find a squirrel. It gets into the “begging” stance when it sees me. Throw a peanut out. They have a sense for these things.

Fires up on demand

In the morning clean up around the house. Wait for the technicians to come in and fix the gas fireplace. Haven’t been using it the past few winters but not this year. It is fires up on demand now. The gave me a remote control as well. Nice. Walk to the office. Work for a while. Walk home. Walk down to Zeidler Square. See several squirrels and throw out peanuts everywhere. Walk around downtown for a while in a nice mood. Walk home.

Sunny good mood

In the morning drive south to Kenosha. Park in front of the courthouse. Walk down to the lakefront. Walk south for a few hours. Turn around and walk north back to my car. It was nice and sunny today. Put me in a good mood.

All across West Allis

In the morning get going a little slowly. Drive to 60th Street. Park and walk all across West Allis. Walk south to Oklahoma. Walk west to Highway 100. Walk east via the Hank Aaron trail. Make it back to my car by sunset. Drive home.

Cooperating with the defense

In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go in for a bunch of hearings. There all morning. Drive home. Do a phone consultation with a witness for one of my cases that is in prison but is cooperating with the defense!! Decide that I worked hard enough this week so skip going to the office. Instead walk down to the lakefront again. See squirrels out and about. Throw peanuts to a one who gets into a “begging” stance. Cool. Walk home.

The sun glows around them

In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go in for three hearings which have start times that are staggered out at 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 A.M. The first two are quick so there is time to sit in the hallway and do nothing between appearances. Drive home. Walk to the office. Work for a while. Walk home. Walk down to the lakefront. Find a stream of geese. Throw bread out to them as the sun glows around them. Walk back home.

Double

In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go in to handle four cases. While there judges assign more to me. I walk out with eight cases. Double. Drive home. Walk to the office. Work for a while. Walk home. Walk to Zeidler Square. See squirrels. One stops to beg for a peanut. I throw one over. It is grabbed up. Walk home.

Do the same thing

In the morning drive out to the House of Correction. Go in for consultations. Drive to Farm & Fleet. Pick up bird seed and squirrel mix. Drive home. Walk to the office. Work for a while. Walk home. Walk to Zeidler Square. Put out peanuts and sunflower seed for the squirrels. Walk to Pere Marquette Park. Do the same thing. Walk home.
