In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go in for jury trial. Case dismissed. Go to the jail. Go in for a consultation. In the afternoon walk to UW-Milwaukee. Stop in Cathedral Square. See a bird standing on top of the bird statue on the church. Same statue that was illuminated by the full moon last night.

Swarm

In the morning walk around downtown. Put out peanuts for the squirrels. Throw out bread pieces in Cathedral Square. A gull swoops in and begins to squak. Suddenly a whole swarm lands to devour the bread. In the afternoon walk up the Oak Leaf trail out to Capitol Drive. At night watch “Mildred Pierce” (1945).

Full moon over the ice

Wake up still sore from Orangetheory this week. Try various ways to end the pain. In the afternoon walk up the Oak Leaf trail to Prospect Avenue. Walk up North Avenue to Humboldt Avenue. Stop at the bridge over the Milwaukee River. Take a gorgeous picture of the full moon light over the ice. Listen to the Cincinnati Bengals end a 31 year drought by winning a playoff game over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Hilarious prank

In the morning drive to the jail. Go in for a consultation. Turned away. Client has Covid. Drive to Sam’s Club. Buy a bunch of stuff in bulk. Drive home. Walk to the office in the afternoon. Work on opening new files that came in this week. See a Bears hat sitting in a window sill. Must be from one of the workers doing construction here. Draw up a home-made Packers ‘G’ on yellow paper. Stick it on the hat to cover up the yucky Bears logo. What a hilarious prank!

Positive reinforcement

In the morning walk to the office. Do some court hearings over Zoom. In the afternoon walk around downtown and put out peanuts for the squirrels. Also put out bird seed for the birds that live in the trees on Plankinton Avenue. At night go to Orangetheory. The coach uses positive reinforcement to push us. She tells us to “get out of your heads” and “you can do way more than your mind will tell you that you can.” She is great.

Tik Tok video

In the morning drive to the courthouse. Go in for a hearing. Hang out with Latia and her daughter. The daughter makes a Tik Tok video of herself dancing. Drive to McDonald’s. Get breakfast via the drive thru. Drive home. Eat the breakfast. Walk to the office. Work all afternoon. Walk around downtown. Put out peanuts for the squirrels. It is much warmer today. At night go to Orangetheory.

Not as brutally cold

In the morning drive to the courthouse. It is brutally cold. Go in for a hearing. Drive out to the Children’s Courthouse. Go to detention to look for a young client. Not there. Drive home. In the afternoon walk to the office. Work on several files. Walk to the post office. Drop off the mail. It is not as brutally cold. At night walk north on Prospect Avenue to North Avenue. Go to Ian’s for two slices of pizza. Walk down Farwell Avenue then up Brady Street. Walk home.

The monster with no face

In the morning drive to the courthouse for two jury trials. One is dismissed. One is adjourned. Drive to Lorena’s house. See Xena. Run around in the snow with her. Pull my hood over my face and chase her. I yell out, “I am the monster with no face!”. She is so happy to see me. She jumps up and down. It was awesome. In the afternoon walk to the office and finish work on a response brief. At night go to Orangetheory.

Last day of the regular season

In the morning walk around downtown. Put out peanuts for the squirrels. In the afternoon walk along the lakefront out to Northpoint. Throw out bread to some hungry seagulls. Walk north to Capitol Drive. Listen to the last day of games in the NFL regular season. Walk back home along the Oak Leaf trail as the sun goes down.
